Not just Marines...
Relic has revealed a new third person action game called Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine for the Xbox360 and PS3.

IGN got the pre-E3 scoop and a first, impressive trailer which offers CGI footage but also detailed in-game fight sequences where Ultramarines take it up against Orks. The graphical engine is made by Relic themselves.

While many details are still vague the preview hints at a lot of gore, a big multiplayer focus, the presence of both Orks and Tyranids, a light-RPG character advancement system through items and such and the fact that you play as a Space Marine (yeah, big surprise there).

Previously there were already rumours about a Warhammer 40k action game, which were confirmed by leaked early footage last year. Publisher THQ has confirmed to Shacknews now that Space Marine has nothing to do with that early footage anymore as it was produced by another studio than Relic. In the last few months even a Dawn of War II designer from Relic said that Warhammer 40k would eventually find its way to consoles in a podcast.

Hopefully Relic will do a better job now than with their previous outing on Xbox360, namely The Outfit. A release date wasn't mentioned other than that the game will come out when it's ready.
