New id Software game: Rage
id Software held QuakeCon last night, where they announced some new games. One of them is Rage, based on the id Tech 5 platform, making a release on PC, PS3, Xbox360 and Mac possible. John Carmack is in the mood for a less dark game.
Less dark doesn't mean less insane, because monsters and weapons still play the main role. This new FPS will feature vehicles and a speedy gameplay with a bit of racing.
Some other "Carmack-thoughts" on the game: There probably won't be a deathmatch, but there will be co-op. Crossplatform is a gimmick according to John. DirectX 10 won't be used because Carmack isn't thrilled about it. We're getting a Blu-Ray version and a 2DVD-version, HD DVD will not be an option.
"Maybe it's time for id to do something that's not so dark," Carmack joked.
