Nintendo online will become payable?

Posted on Friday, 22 February 2008 by Speed, source: Wired
According to Wired, Nintendo will soon be introducing a pay-to-play service on its online platform.

In short, this means that certain games will require you to pay money in order to play them online which is a huge change from the company that up until now always wanted to keep online free of charge.

"Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Pay And Play" will let users subscribe on a game-by-game basis to certain titles. Nintendo project leader Takashi Aoyama announced the service at GDC, but did not say what upcoming games would require payment for the service, or how much they would cost.
Payments will apparently be done with Wii Points.

Another way for Nintendo to make a couple of bucks, or the start for the future downfall of Nintendo's Wii console? We'll keep you up to date on what happens.
