No Half-Life 2 add-on?

Computergames.ro received a quote from Valve's Doug Lombardi stating "Despite the rumors, Valve has not announced any plans for an HL2 expansion".
The rumours that have been floating around came from Gamershell who reported that PC Gamer UK's latest issue reveals details of an upcoming Half-Life 2 expansion
There are a couple of things to be said here though.
First: the description of what would be to come in an upcoming add-on sounds a lot like the rumours we've heard of what to expect in Half-Life 3. So maybe they're mixing both things up ?
Secondly: Valve states there isn't any add-on announced. However, that doesn't mean they aren't working on one. We all know how Valve likes to play with words...

Valve Software revealed some details about the upcoming addon for Half-Life 2. Alyx Vance will be a playable character instead of being a NPC. A new weapon, Alyx Gun, will be introduced in the game - it is a combination of pistol, SMG and sniper rifle. The dog will be there too, but, like in the original game, only as a NPC
