No cheating with Half-Life 2

Posted on Sunday, 10 October 2004 by b|0-0|n, source: Fragland
Valve wants to assure gamers who hate cheaters in online games that HL2 will be 'unhackable'. Doug Lombardi stated that the games based on the engine and controlled by Steam will be cheat-free.

They'll ensure this by making constant on-the-fly changes in the code. By this hackers will have it very difficult to produce cheats lasting longer than a few hours.
"Lombardi: You're constantly connected, and we can constantly touch your bits. Steam allows us to do an arbitrary number of updates per day/per hour/per minute, so if your code base is constantly changing then it's hard to write a hack for that code base."

Let's hope this will quarantee a cheat-free environment and that hackers will not consider it as an extra challenge and incentive to begin working on it even harder. I'll just add that HL2 received a review score of 98% in the US-version of PC-Gamer. That is even higher than the one of the original Half-Life, promising to say the least.
