It seems the famous studio has decided to look for new IP again.

After starting the Medal of Honor franchise, then forming Infinity Ward and moving to Activision - Blizzard where they created the original Call of Duty franchise which they then gave new momentum with Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward seems to think it's time to move on again.

According to "reliable sources", the developer won't be involved with the creation of Modern Warfare 3 but instead will focus on new (and yet unannounced) IP.

Other sources are stating that IF Modern Warfare 3 will be created without Infinity Ward (which is unsure), it will be done by a studio in Canada (which points towards Vancouver-based Radical Entertainment who previously did Prototype) or newly formed Sledgehammer Studios who are currently looking for a multiplayer designer with “five years experience working on current AAA multiplayer shooters for current consoles and PC.”

Previous rumours also hinted that Treyarch (who've done several console versions of Call of Duty) is working on a Vietnam-based episode in the series which would be released later this year.

In any case, it looks to be all good news. Plenty of Call of Duty coming up and maybe some totally new game from Infinity Ward!

I guess Activision - Blizzard will have a lot to announce at E3 this Summer.
