No reduction for the Wii

Posted on Friday, 12 October 2007 by Devilke, source: Eurogamer
If you were hoping to buy a Wii for Christmas and save some money, then we have some bad news for you. As it happens, Nintendo stated that they don't see any reasons why the console should become cheaper.

The production of the Wii is going very well and everything gets sold. There is no pressure from Sony or Microsoft, because the public they are aiming at is much broader.

No Christmas reduction for the Wii, we're curious to see if the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are indeed getting one.

The Wii doesnt need a price reduction because people will be buying it anyway, Nintendo actually has some business sense and they sell their product.
Sony is floundering about making different models with various specifications and different price points trying to get you to buy the PS3 after it's dismal first year (dismal in comparison to how Sony [and most other people] expected it to do). They are taking various parts out of the original designs and changing Hard Drive space to make it seem like a better deal, even though it isn't.
Microsoft are still messing about trying to stop the 30% failure rate that their consoles have had (at least until recently with the Falcon improvement).

Nintendo are doing very well, and i dont expect a price cut till christmas 2008, though there might be extra incentives like maybe adding WiiFit to the current WiiSports pack and charging an extra $30/£20 maybe March-ish.
