Origin having issues?
Posted on Wednesday, 12 October 2011 by Speed, source: EvilAvatar
With Battlefield 3 around the corner, Electronic Arts better make sure their Origin service is running smoothly. Which it currently apparently isn't.
Users have been reporting they're getting the error message "The Origin network could not be reached", essentially making it impossible for them to play games they've purchased.
EA seems to not be aware of the issue (or is ignoring it?) and up to now only two workarounds have been found by users: gamers that are hit by this bug can try to reset their modem or enter the following line into their command prompt, "netsh winsock reset", after which they need to restart their operating system. However, neither of these two seem to fix the issue for all users.
As said above: with Battlefield 3 as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic coming up, EA better make sure Origin runs smoothly as if this issue continues, millions of users may be getting affected by it, effectively alienating consumers from Origin and EA.
