It's taken him quite some time, but hey, it's taken THQ a lot of time to get this game released and sent to us as well!

THQ sent a working copy of Stalker to us only weeks after release. And you wouldn't want us to review crappy beta-code liek a lot of other sites, now would you? ;)

With it's open world, great gameworld creation, superb AI in creatures and NPC's and the fact that by accident or design, the conversations are in Russian and the game works on average PC without the need of a $500 upgrade like so many PC games, this is my Game of the Year. Between the patches and the mods all problems with the game have been solved and with 100 hours plus of gameplay I think reviewers should add a couple points for 'value' like they used to in days gone by. By downscoring games with only 12-15 hours gameplay we might move away from games getting shorter and shorter with less and less gameplay for our hard earned money! These open world games are the Rolls Royce of PC games, they are harder to produce and cost more to produce and yet they provide better value for money for gamers. Games like this always have bugs too, as it is not cost effective to have 10,000 beta testers, like you would need to truly bug test a large open-world game! Why therefore reviewers are always shocked, I don't know! I would rather have a bugged 100 hour STALKER than a non bugged 15 hour on the rails shooter. So please, give this game the respect it deserves and stop dissing it!
