PS3 70% cheaper to make, where's my price-cut damnit?

TVG went to the trouble of digging through a conference call made by Sony Entertainment CEO and executive VP Nobuyuki Oneda.

Things apparently got really interesting when he got to the part where the manufacturing cost of the PS3 was discussed. We all know that the price-point of SONY's console is generally considered to be its Achilles heel.
“The cost reduction since we introduced the PS3 is very substantial and this is on schedule,” Oneda-san replied when asked about manufacturing costs. “We don't disclose how much of the PS3, specifically the cost deduction was achieved during the past two years. But that is on schedule.”

“About 70%, roughly speaking,” Oneda-san added when pressed further on the matter.
Although never revealed it was guesstimated by disassembly of the original PS3 that the cost was somewhere around $800. Back in January 2008 reports surfaced that the manufacturing cost was already down by 50% to around $400. Seventy percent would put the manufacturing cost at around $240.

I do get Sony for wanting to make a decent buck on each console but I think it's really time to knock off at least a fifty to boost sales a bit. Hell, I might even consider one if they drop it a hundred!
