PS3: Use a homeless

The PS3 launch consoles in Japan - I admit there weren't many - were all sold out pretty quickly last weekend. Apparently the consoles are so loved that all kinds of tricks were used to get one and in many cases they ended up on Ebay.

According to Kotaku there were a lot of Japanese businessmen who hired homeless people and Chinese to stand in line in their place.

"Based on my observations of the first twenty PS3s sold at Bic Camera, they were all purchased by Chinese nationals, none of whom bought any software. After making their purchase, television crews asked for interviews but all were declined. These temporary owners of PS3s would then make their way down the street where their bosses waited. After several minutes, a dozen PS3s were rounded up, as their Japanese business manager paid out cash to those who waited in line for them. I witnessed a homeless-looking Chinese man, in his sixties or seventies get paid 20,000 yen for his services and was then sent away."

Meanwhile, Gamefront.de has managed to get some preliminary software sales figures and they're as follows:

- Ridge Racer 7 Bandai Namco: 27.000 St. (38 %)
- Gundam Bancai Namco: 20.000 St. (26 %)
- Resistance Sony: 16.000 St. (40 %)
- Genji Sony: 10.000 St. (20 %)
- Sega Golfclub Featuring Miyazato Family Sega: 3.000 St. (24 %)

So, 83.000 consoles sold and 76.000 games. That leaves 7.000 consoles sold without a single game...

There's the explanation for the ammount of sold games.
