PS3 closing sales gap in Japan?
Bloomberg is reporting that in Japan, 245,653 Wii machines were sold, compared with Sony's 81,541 PlayStation3 consoles in the four weeks to Aug. 26.
That doesn't look too good for Sony and Microsoft, but it looks like Sony is closing the gap. Previous months, Wii would outsell PS3 with a 4-to-1 ratio while this time it's only 3-to-1.
Still, don't get your hopes up too high for Sony's console as overall sales are decreasing, it's just that the PS3 is decreasing a little less (11%) than Microsoft's Xbox350 (37%) and Nintendo Wii (38%).
In total, the Wii still has a major head start with over 3.4 million consoles sold in Japan while Sony has just recently managed to go over 1.1 million. Microsoft's Xbox360 is a lone third with only 442.290 units sold.
