PS3 possibly delayed till end of 2007
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has sources saying that Sony's next-gen console, the PlayStation 3 will be delayed until the end of 2007.
Disappointing news for those of you eager to get their hands on this console within the year. And although the BBC remains tight-lipped about the identy of their source, the announcement is likely to contain some level of truth. An ex-employee for gamestop recently stated the following:
If what is written above proves to be genuine, Sony might well be facing dark times. Microsoft and Nintendo will undoubtedly gain an advantage from this incident. On the other hand, Sony will be able to release their console with the newest technological gadgets on board. The company has not made an official announcement up to this point.
Update
Eurogamer, in search of confirmation, has contacted the BBC. England's national television network stated that the 22 months of which they spoke were mere speculation and not based on inside information.

The PS3 is delayed until 2007, the decision for this came about through the failure of the initial hardware the PS3 Development Team created. Apparently, 300 PS3 Units were created and sent to various software developers to begin creating games for the new system. However, design flaws in the PS3 (Specifically, not enough coolant) caused the systems to overheat and meltdown after moderate
use by the developers.
According to my DM (District Manager), Sony went and fired the entirety of the PS3 Development Team for this flaw. In short, from what I've heard, if Sony gained anything from this experience, it's minor technical knowledge on what the PS3 can handle, but for the most part they were sent to square one.
