PS3 to surpass X360 next year?

Posted on Saturday, 30 October 2010 by Speed, source: CVG
Unless Kinect manages to make big waves, it seems Sony Entertainment's Playstation 3 will surpass Microsoft's console in lifetime sales by the end of next year.

September 30th the PS3's lifetime sales ended up at 41.6 million, which is really close to those of Microsoft's X360 which are currently 44.6 million. This while the 360 launched a year earlier than the PS3.

In the last financial quarter, Sony managed to sell 3.5 million consoles, while Microsoft only managed to get 2.8 million new 360s into people's homes. If that trend continues, we'll see the PS3 taking over X360 in 2011.

good luck with that Speed. Sony is going to need it. They are going to lose 3D to Nintendo with the 3DS and loose the motion controller wars to Microsoft. Sony's PSP can't compete with Nintendo. Sony is done.

What are you saying, both nintendo and microsoft can offer only casual motion games or non-hd. Sony can have hardcore, 3D motion games, and are seeing more and more apps for the system. I'm not a sony fanboy, and yes, the psp is dead, but the PS3 is still young and powerfull and the psp android phone is coming. Sony lost many battles, but they seem to be winning the war!
