PSP-3000 scan lines are here to stay
In a statement made to Joystiq, SONY US made it clear that they are not intending to fix to scan line issue that users have been noticing since the release of the updated PSP this friday.
I really can't get my head around this... have they not been watching their own LCD and Plasma departments? At the start of 2007 many of the LCD producing companies like AU Optronics, NEC, Samsung had these very same issues with their panels. Many resellers had to release updated versions of their screens and some even offered free upgrades to buyers of first gen screens with the issues. DELL released 4 revisions of my 2007 20" wide-screen before getting it right.
It's nice that they want to counter the ghosting but I prefer the little ghosting there was in some games to constant awareness of scan lines. I also must state that I haven't seen it with my own eyes so don't shoot the messenger :)
"On some occasions, scan lines may appear on scenes where brightness changes drastically, due to the hardware features of the new LCD device on PSP-3000,"
Because the issue is due to 'hardware improvements', read that as a newer screen that fixes ghosting but introduces the scan lines because of the faster response time, a firmware update would be futile.I really can't get my head around this... have they not been watching their own LCD and Plasma departments?
