Sony Entertainment today announced a new initiative that will soon allow you to play certain PlayStation Portable games on the PS3. The ports will get some enhancements so that they'll be worth checking out once again.

At least, that's the idea behind the so-called PlayStation Portable Remaster Series which amongst other things will enjoy HD graphics, new exclusive content, support for the PS3 controller and in some cases even 3D support.

Very interesting is also the possibility to go to work through the Ad Hoc multiplayer system through your PS3 to PSP and the other way around. That way you can continue playing when on the road or when you're temporarily unable to play on your console.

We at least hope you won't need to pay twice if you already have or buy the PSP game. The first game that's supposed to arrive in the series is the popular Monster Hunter Portable 3rd which will arrive on PS3 this Summer.

More details, timings and games weren't announced, but we expect to hear more about the whole thing at E3 (this series will probably also hit the NGP) and no doubt other PSP top titles like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the God of War games will follow soon.
