Pachter: Sony and Microsoft won't break Wii's market domination

According to Wedbush Morgan Analyst Michael Pachter, neither Microsoft's Project Natal nor Sony's motion control have what it takes. "What it takes"? Well, what it takes to break Nintendo's dominance in the console market.
“Sony and Microsoft each fired cannon shots across Nintendo’s bow, with Microsoft’s Project Natal and Sony’s Motion Controller (based on the Eye Toy). We view Microsoft’s proposed offering as intended to provide a user-friendly interface for Xbox Live dashboard access, and view Sony’s offering as Wii-nis envy. We do not expect either to displace Nintendo’s Wii from its leadership position,” he said.
Nintendo seems to feel the same way, saying almost that Sony and Microsoft are copying what they've done with the Wii. And to be honest: in a way Nintendo is correct with that statement. Whether that will keep MS and/or Sony from breaking the Wii's dominance is another thing I would think. How long can one keep the casual gamer interested?

I think Natal is too far away to have any real impact on drawing away casual console gamers this generation.

The PS3 Eye toy and wands look pretty cool and look like their close to release, but with the PS3 price point and the fact that every other console has something similar now makes its very unlikely that casual gamers would move to the PS3 this late in the game.

xbox360 has been selling since Christmas of 2005, and would need to double those sales since then in order to catch up to nintendo. IMPOSSIBLE!
