Paramount: HD-DVD only
Dont' panic! Paramount will continue releasing movies on DVD, but the company did decide to drop support for Sony's Blu-ray format and only support Toshiba's HD-DVD. Only exception will be Steven Spielberg's movies which will remain available on both formats.
This comes as quite a surprise, especially with the decent sales figures Blu-ray Discs have been having lately. This exclusivity deal does show that the format wars is far from over, especially with even cheaper HD-DVD drives around the corner.
Paramount's upcoming blockbuster set for release on HD-DVD are Transformers, Shrek 3 and Blades of Glory.
I'll wait for reasonably priced dual-format players to arrive on the market :)

Films executive produced by Spielberg can still be HD-DVD exclusive, as Paramount said it is kicking off its platform monogamy with HD-DVD releases of Transformers, Shrek the Third, and Blades of Glory. Set to go on sale next Tuesday, Blades of Glory had originally been announced as a release for Blu-ray as well as HD-DVD.

"We believe the combination of this year's low-priced HD DVD players and the commitment to release a significant number of hit titles in the fall makes HD DVD the best way to view movies at home," said DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg in a statement.
