Patapon will be a bargain in US

Posted on Tuesday, 22 January 2008 by Devilke, source: Playstation Blog
Gamers want Innovaacion with a big I and are constantly screaming for renewal. Too bad the sales numbers are often contradicting that call. Bad licensees, sequels of sport games and the Need for Speed number 342 are better sellers than innovative games like LocoRoco or Okami.

It definitely looks great
However, Sony keeps believing in renewal and will do anything to reach a public as broad as possible. At least, that's what Jeff Reese, Director of Software Marketing, states. As it happens, he uses Patapon to go with his vision. This game is being developed for PSP and makes you control an army of creatures by rhythmic pressing the buttons.

In the U.S., the game will be released for the small price of 19,99 dollars. That way, he's hoping the game will catch the attention and know the same success as in Japan.

So the reason for my post. Hopefully you have heard that we will be releasing a great new PSP title called Patapon here to the US in February. It’s a completely original PSP game on several levels, offering a fusion of action and rhythm gaming with an eye-catching 2D art style. It’s becoming a hit in Japan - and by looking at the early previews from the press, I know you all will dig it too.

As you can see, Patapon is really different and highly creative, a new kind of PSP experience we don’t want anyone to miss. So to make it more accessible to everyone, we are happy to officially announce that we are releasing it at $19.99, lower than other new PSP games. It’s a game that shouldn’t get lost with some other big titles launching on the platform. It deserves your attention because it’s very cool.
On February 26, the game will hit the shelves. It's still uncertain if we get a nice price here in Europe too. We sure hope so, because maybe it will motivate other publishers to do the same. If not, we will have to import!
