Infinium Labs' console, the Phantom, which would offer an on-demand video game service looks to be nothing more than a phantom, a ghost. Although the Phantom was shown at the E3 last year, it now looks like it's buried before it's even born since it hasn't been shown on this year's E3.

The reason for this is purely financial. Due to recent setbacks and staff departures, Infinium Labs isn't capable of coughing up the necessary $11.5 million for the launch. Therefor we can suspect that the Phantom will never be released.

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there, other than the employees of Infinium Labs, who is bummed out because of this? I for one am not. With recent presentations of all next-gen consoles, the funeral of the Phantom isn't something to be crying for.
