Players going Mad(den)
Freelancestar has word of some players of Madden NFL that didn't really like loosing and started fighting
Spotsylvania County authorities say two friends got into a violent confrontation over a video game featuring football.
Sheriff's Maj. Howard Smith said a wager the two made on the game led to a bitter confrontation Tuesday that included a knife, gun and kicked-down door.
The two were playing a PlayStation 2 game--Madden football--for money, Smith said. Police said the Stafford man became angry after losing $600 and got into an argument with the homeowner. Smith said police aren't sure what started it.
The altercation turned into a physical fight, Smith said. He said the aggressor grabbed a mounted knife off a wall and cut the homeowner's hand. The cut was deep enough to require stitches, Smith said. The victim eventually managed to force the man out of his home and locked and dead-bolted the door, Smith said.
He then watched out of his window as the man went to his car, got a gun and stormed back to the house, Smith said. The victim took his children upstairs and stayed with them in a locked room. He heard several "booms" downstairs that he initially thought might be gunshots.
It turned out that the loud sounds came from the door and frame being kicked down, Smith said.
