One in about 10,000 titles

This week Sony's reliable workhorse can blow out nine candles. It has been nine years since the PlayStation 2 was launched.

To celebrate the occasion Sony has released some extra statistics about the console. The flagship gaming device crossed counters some 140 million times, thereby exceeding its predecessor the PlayStation, which 'only' got sold 102 million times.

Also the Gameboy, with 119 million sold units, and the Nintendo DS, which sold 108 million, have to take a bow for that one.

To guarantee its success no less than 485 developers have been releasing about 10,000 games.
