Portable Copy not included in new PS3 firmware

Not all rumors are true and the same now also counts for the "Portable Copy" function. This was supposed to be present in the 2.20 firmware update for the PS3 and would allow you to convert blu-ray movies from the PS3 to the PSP.

SCEA contacted us today to let us know we were right to doubt, the Playstation 3's firmware 2.20 update will not include Portable Copy support, despite reports to the contrary.

Whether this function will ever appear is unknown at this moment but let's be positive and hope it will.

I'm fairly certain that "Portable Copy" is similar to the "Digital Copy" that's being issued with some of the newer BDs like Hitman and Juno.
I don't think it can make any Blu-ray into a PSP movie.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't supposed to be a conversion feature anyway. Was it not said that a "copy" of the film in PSP format would already be on the movie discs (presumably not all movies) ready to simply copy? I would hazard a guess that it would only be included on future films from Sony studios.
