VG24/7 is reporting that their inside source at Sony confirms the company's plans to announce a PSN premium service at E3.

Plenty of different features will be unveiled and the service will become available for less than £50 a year. Sony also plans a free PSN game a month for subscribers and next to that a music application in the style of Spotify which allows you to add your own background music while playing games is apparently also planned.

Those that make a small calculation will quickly see that becoming member will be a good thing, according to the source:
“If you work it out, PSN games cost an average of £6-9 each, so over a year you’re basically going to be breaking even,”
The rumours that cross-game voice chat would become a function for paying members were sliced to pieces, he's 100% sure this won't be the case. For non-paying PSN members everything will remain as is:
“I can tell you now, 100 percent, that that’s not the case,”

“There’s nothing in the premium package which will gimp regular PSN users.”
The free PSN titles are of course a nice gesture, hopefully this will open the eyes of Microsoft so they'll be offering some extras for Gold members as well.
