Press guilty for Jack Thompson
The ex-boss of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Doug Lowenstein has made some comments about the role that the media played around the Jack Thompson figure.
The lawyer recently heard he lost the permission to practice his job after several chaotic and less cohesive crusades against games. The American court decided that after another blunder of Thompson, to banish him out of the court world good.
Lowenstein thinks that this wouldn't have happened if the gamespress didn't jump on him like a group of scavengers.

"The game press had a schizoid relationship with Thompson. He was the person they loved to vilify and the person they could not get enough of,"
"The media knew well that he was a charlatan who wholly lacked credibility. But hey, they said, he was news and could not be ignored. That was a cop out. It gave Thompson a platform he might not have had for as long as he did.
"Mainstream outlets were worse but the game press knew better. But he was the game press' crack. So as it takes delight in his apparent demise, it is a good time to contemplate whether the game media itself has matured," he added.
According to him, the media knew that he was a charlatan, yet they still decided to keep posting news about his endeavors even when they didn't mean anything. Lowenstein thinks that the press need to ask themself if they can still be considered a professional entity."The media knew well that he was a charlatan who wholly lacked credibility.
