Public Beta keys for ET: Quake Wars today

Developer Splash Damage knows that the online gaming crowd isn't made up out of Fileplanet subscribers alone.

Therefore everyone with a free Fileplanet account can try to acquire a key for the Public Beta of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars today (and tomorrow as well probably).

At 11 AM Pacific / 2 PM Eastern / 1900 British / 2000 Central European time (= 20.00 GMT+1) this special signup page will be flooded with anxious fans, eager to obtain a key and a downloadlink for the beta client (846 MB).

We're moving into stage 4 of the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Public Beta key roll-out today and those keeping track will know that means today's keys will be for anyone with a free FilePlanet account. As before, browse to the FilePlanet URL below to claim your key and start downloading the client.

Key Distribution Start: 11 AM Pacific / 2 PM Eastern / 1900 British / 2000 Central European
Key Distribution Website: www.fileplanet.com/promotions/quakewars/

While this batch is larger than all the previous ones, we expect it to go much quicker. And for those of you who love idling in giant IRC channels, drop by #etqwbeta on irc.quakenet.org - we've got over a thousand people there right now anticipating today's keys and hurting their heads with timezone conversions.

There are other mirrors for the file to be found on the web but you can't do much with the beta client if you don't have a key. The beta contains only one map ("Sewer") and the system specs are pretty steep as well (for the beta, the retailversion should support a broader range of PC configurations).

what your specs?

"System requirements close to Quake 4 and doom 3" There has been no official information released about this yet. However it has been said that if you can play Doom 3 at a decent framerate you should be able to play Enemy territory Quake Wars.

Recommended for High Quality - 1280x1024:
3Ghz CPU.
1024MB RAM.
Radeon X800 XT or any Geforce 6800.

Intel P4 3Ghz HT
1.5Gb Ram
Geforce 6600GT 128mb

Remember guys, the BETa (for some stupid reason) is requiring a lot higher than recommended retail specs.

All Batch 4 keys gone!

"for some stupid reason" -> that's why they call it a BETA, they ALWAYS require more than final product. Code optimisation is what makes thing run more fluid on retail products and you can't optimise before testing

Why would you only beta on high end systems? Surely, you would like to find out what the lower end of the system users experience. :S
