Public still not "moved" about Motion Control

Posted on Tuesday, 20 July 2010 by Speed, source: Arstechnica
According to a reader survey held by the guys over at Arstechnica, you people still aren't really interested in motion control.

The survey, which has responses from over 9000 readers of the site, wondered whether people preferred Sony's Move or Microsoft's Kinect, with the third option being people getting both and number four being "neither of them appeal to me". The last option was people who needed more information in order to consider either motion controller.

Surprise, surprise: over 40% of all those participating chose option 4:
It seems Ars Technica readers simply aren't that excited about either of the two competing technologies. Over 42 percent of respondents claimed that neither tech appeals to them, while over 20 percent said that they still need more information to be convinced to buy either tech. Only 224, not even three percent, claim that they'll be buying both motion controllers.

The Kinect seems to be slightly more popular than the PlayStation Move among our readers, but it was hardly a blowout: 4.72 percent more respondents say they are definitely going to buy the Kinect instead of the PlayStation Move.
To be honest: I'm not really interested in motion tech either. It's good games I want and unless tech can give additional benefit to an already great game, I couldn't care less about it.

Of course, just like most Arstechnica readers, I don't quite fall into the group of "general public".
