Reduced sales Gamecube hurts Nintendo
In a BBC-article it becomes clear that Nintendo has been having lesser profits lately. One of the most important reasons is of course the killing competition on consoles and lower prices on the market, but also the lesser sales of the Gamecube and its games.
Particularly in the U.S., the Gamecube suffered heavy losses. The success of Nintendo's DS and for instance Nintendogs is more than welcome to compensate for decreasing sales on the Cube.
It looks like Nintendo, amongst others because of above statement, leaves the Gamecube to float around a bit and they put their hopes up for the DS, the Micro and of course the Revolution which should be available in a foreseeable amount of time.
Too bad that this good console goes down because of lack of good games and real top titles. Resident Evil 4 was one of the last real good games on this console and it looks like there isn't something new coming soon until the next Zelda.

Nintendo said recently-launched games such as Nintendogs and Pokemon Emerald had performed strongly but admitted that its GameCube console had lost some of its desirability in the US.
"The big drop for GameCube games was in North America," Yoshihiro Mori, Nintendo's senior managing director, told Reuters.
"It looks like the product's life is nearing its end."
