Rome: Total War used for history programme

Posted on Wednesday, 19 May 2004 by Speed, source: Fragland
Wired is reporting that Activision's upcoming RTS Rome: Total War will be used by The History Channel to recreate certain historical battles on TV
Decisive Battles, a 13-episode, half-hour series that debuts July 17, makes use of British video-game developer The Creative Assembly's Rome: Total War PC game, which Activision will publish this fall. The real-time strategy game received an award for strategy game of the year at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the video-game industry's largest trade show.
Well, PC Games are getting more and more mainstream it seems :)

The game was already being used by a special prpgramme on BBC2, where one team of people would replay a historical battle against the CPU (which acted like the historical opponent would have). Quite a fun program, which ran for several weeks.

The show was called Time Commanders and was supported by The Creative Assembly. The team just gave orders to peeps behind some pc's. But I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't the final product. Anyway, a nice method of beta-testing. :)
