Rule of Rose too erotic for US
The game Rule of Rose is the newest horror game for the PS2. Apparently the developers aren't following the rules since Sony doesn't want to publish it in the US.
The game features some erotic CG movies with young school girls. Well, girls in school uniform are definitely some what erotic, so what was Punchline thinking when they put them in the game? Well, by using kids they want to show the innocence but also fears of children which creates a pretty psychological horror atmosphere. However, Sony thinks this isn't really on par with their corporate image in the US.
Assistent producer of Sony, Yuy Takayama said this when Gamasutra asked him why they didn't want to release it in the US:
Take a look at the features of the game and give me one erotic element.
Befriend a faithful dog and work together to locate crucial items! Intense melee combat against bloodthirsty monsters! Musical score by Yutaka Minobe (Panzer Dragoon Saga, Skies of Arcadia)! An immersive storyline with 50 minutes of award-nominated CG scenes (Official Selection of the Annecy 2006 International Animated Film Festival)! Multiple endings and hidden extras!
You can expect more news on this game and hopefully it isn't about the controversy but about the originality of this game. Because originality is the most important thing in games isn't it? However, young girls in school uniform, hmmm... ;)

GS: Why didn’t Sony pick up the game for the U.S.?
YT: Wow, that’s a rough question. How shall I say this…well, when Sony looked at the game, they felt it wasn’t really in sync with their corporate image. Their personal pride wanted it to be a bit tamer, if it were to have the Sony name in the U.S.
I personally appealed to them that it wasn’t that kind of game, but it didn’t quite work out for me.
