SOPA off the table, PIPA postponed
It seems the internet blackout and various other acts of protest against the SOPA and PIPA legislations have had their effect.
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid has postponed a vote on PIPA, while House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith has announced his panel will stop with their push on SOPA until a compromise regarding its content has been reached.
Following massive protest and tons of sites going dark for 24 hours, several senators have dropped their support for both acts.
Smith has the following to say regarding SOPA:
In any case, freedom of speech on the internet is safe still... for now. Let's hope the idiots keep debating both acts indefinitely.

Smith has the following to say regarding SOPA:
“I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy,”
“It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.”
It's sad to see that a man who believes online piracy is a matter regarding "American inventions and products" alone is allowed such a high position in the government. Don't they have anyone with more brains in the US? Or is it that people with more brains go to work, and those with less go into politics?“It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.”
In any case, freedom of speech on the internet is safe still... for now. Let's hope the idiots keep debating both acts indefinitely.
