Scott Miller: 3D Realms is fine
In an interview, 3D Realms' Scott Miller confirmed that the entire Duke Nukem Forever staff has been laid off but that for the rest everything is fine at the company.
Our future is fine. We have, I think at last count, 11 or 12 projects in the works. One of them is coming out next week. Another one is coming out in about six weeks. Both of those are on the iPhone. We have some major games in production still. So we're fine. That's not an issue at all.
For the record, Miller also said that 3D Realms is not closing:SM: No, 3D Realms is not closing. The internal development is no longer a part of this business, though.
Also interesting to know is that fact that Miller is also has a side-company called Radar Group who work with third party developers and try to make sure that all big concepts and games they come up with are suitable to become more than just games and can easily be transformed into movies:That's really what we are trying to do with Radar -- just make sure that all of the big new concepts we come up with, and games that we come up, will also be potentially very strong on the film side.
I would suggest anyone to read the entire 10-page interview as it's really a good read if you're interested in some of the history of game development. In other news:
