Shock: Nintendo losing money!
Nintendo has released their earnings for the last six months and it sure as hell doesn't look like the company is "earning" anything.
In the period of April – September, the Big N had its net losses growing to 2 billion yen (about $24.5 million). One of the big issues is apparently how the Yen is performing towards the dollar. With 84.1% of all sales being overseas, the effect is huge. Foreign currencies generated exchange losses totaling 62.1 billion yen!
Sounds incredible, doesn't it? To make things worse, Nintendo's sales weren't too shabby, eventhough they were down compared to the same period last year.
4.97 million Nintendo Wii consoles were sold and the combined DS versions were also good for 6.69 million units. And then we haven't even spoken about how many games were sold: 54.84 million units of DS games, and 65.21 million units of Wii titles! And still not able to make some profit!
