Finally, after many phone calls GameDaily was able to track down Adam Rothberg, Simon & Schuster Inc.’s vice president of corporate communications, who denied that the unit was closing. He did say, “We have had some discussions with potential buyers for some, or all of the assets (of Simon & Schuster Interactive).”

Continuing, Rothberg added, “It’s a great little interactive boutique shop that has had some really good successes in all kinds of different formats, but it’s not our (Simon & Schuster’s) core business. We think that they (SSI) will be a great asset in a place that has more scale in that business and can give them the full support that they need.”

As far as what assets of SSI are up for sale specifically, Rothberg would not get into details.
