Six Days in Fallujah are over already

Konami recently announced they would be making a game about the fighting in Fallujah in November 2004. It now appears this game, Six Days in Fallujah, will not live a long life.

As soon as the announcement about the game was made, various instances voiced their concerns. One of the major gripes most people had was wether the game was ethically correct. As such it were mainly veteran organisations or families of victims that protested. Atomic Games argued however they did not want to banalise war, and wanted to give players the opportunity to experience the fightings from a first person perspective.

All this now grinds to a halt. A PR representative for Konami let know:
After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it. We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there.

Wether or not Atomic Games will try to get the game published after all remains to be seen.

Not really surprised at all. If Atomic decides to change publishers or publish it themselves, I'd highly suggest a change in title...
