Sixaxis: changing battery yourself?
Sony previously announced that when the battery of their new Sixaxis controller would die, you could send it to Sony and they would replace it for free.
A manual that's included with the PS3, however, suggests something else. Inside it's clearly noted how you can open the controller (5 screws) and replace the battery yourself.
Time will tell, but seeing the quality of current GSM-batteries this problem shouldn't happen all too often.

Even though Sony's said that they will replace dead SIXAXIS controllers once the battery life is gone—there's actually a note that the battery has a limited life-span in the manual—they also give you a method for removing the battery. All you have to do is unscrew 5 screws on the back of the controller, pull the casing up, and disconnect the connector to the battery.
