Some more details about Splinter Cell 4
Eurogamer has gathered some intel on Splinter Cell 4, with PSW magazine being their main source.
As it has been made clear through hints on the mysterious official site also, Sam Fisher has gone loco and is now imprisoned for a long sentence. His daughter was killed apparently and he did 'something' naughty afterwards which earned him his long punishment.
The story starts in 2008, a year after the last SC game, Chaos Theory. The first level puts you in the prison where you'll need to escape. You're being assisted by other locked up crooks, like Jamie Washington, a member of a gang called John Brown's Army.
Ubisoft is promising a new feature (which they are keeping secret for now) that will be a first for the stealth genre. More exotic places were promised too, just as more guns, moves and other little tricks. You'll get to know different persons when advancing in the game (like deputy Carl Moss, the gang boss Emile Dufraisne and Enrica Villablanca, a chemical expert). The game engine will be mostly the same as that one of Chaos Theory, with a few enhancements here and there. But that fact doesn't prevent creative director Daniel Berube to call the environments in SC4 more realistic than those shown in the Metal Gear Solid 4 TGS-trailer.
We'll see about that when Splinter Cell 4 is released in begin 2006.
