Next to Nintendo also Sony published their Q1 results and they weren't good either.

Sales for PS3 hardware dropped significantly compared to the same period last year. Coming from 2.4 million last year, they went down to 1.8 million in 2012.

The new number bring the total amount of sold consoles to 51.8 million units worldwide, just below the 55 million units sold for the Xbox360. EEDAR did note that on a worldwide level the PS3 sold 10% better than the 360 in the first six months of this year.

Sony keeps its expectations to 15 million units in its Fiscal Year 2011, a small increase compared to last year so they still have some work to do.

PS3 software sales did go up to 26 million compared to 24,8 million last year. Also the PSP did better with 1.8 million units sold. Strangely enough the software sales there dropped spectacularly with about a third. Finally, the PS2 managed to get sold 1.4 million times, even if its software sales dropped with more than 50%.
