Sony again: We have a production issue

Posted on Friday, 20 October 2006 by Speed, source: Bloomberg
More bad news concerning Sony's PS3 comes today in the form of Sony's Jack Tretton, co-chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment America, who told Bloomberg that their figures of shipping two million PlayStation3's to the US and Japan and a total of 6 million worldwide by March is more of an estimate than a real figure

``The honest answer is it's more of a target'' for PlayStation 3 shipments, Jack Tretton, co-chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said yesterday in an interview. ``Clearly we've had production issues.''

Meanwhile, Sony's stock shares have again taken a dive as the company yesterday said annual profit would fall 35 percent to its lowest in five years on price cuts of the console in Japan and a recall of 9.6 million computer batteries

I think Sony is beating the record (whoever previously held it) for most fuckups in such a short period of time. Me thinks they're going bankrupt soon :)

If somehow all the PS3s are defective and they have to do a massive recall, I think they would be borderline fucked.
