Sony buys movie rights for RollerCoaster Tycoon
Hollywood can't get much crazier. Next videogame to see itself transformed to the big white screen: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
Sony Pictures has acquired the rights for Rollercoaster Tycoon from Atari and according to Reuters the project will be a combination between live-action and CGI. Everything is done under the guidance of producer Harald Zwart, known as director of the upcoming Karate Kid remake.
Writers are David Ron and Jay Scherick and we can be lucky that the game doesn't have a storyline so that they have all the freedom in the world to make something about... rollercoasters.
The game was made by Chris Sawyer for Microprose in 1999 and allowed people to make their own rollercoaster dreams come true. On screen of course. The third and last game dates from 2004, shortly after Atari took over the rights from Microprose.
