Sony has management issues
Kotaku noted that Roger Ehrenberg's business/stocks blog dug up a Wall Street Journal article about Sony boss Sir Howard Stringer and his relationship with Ken Kutaragi. Seems Mr. Kutaragi tends to have a rather bad relationship with Sony's electronics division.
And it doesn't just stop with not getting invites for launches:
Things get even better when Kutaragi blames the electronics division for lower shipping figures for the PS3:
Seeing that the electronics department are the guys actually making everything for Kutaragi, wouldn't it make some sense to make sure to have a good relationship with them? I would think so, but apparently "top manager" Kutaragi doesn't agree...
Mr. Kutaragi was notorious within the company for his reluctance to communicate with his bosses or other units. In 2005, Mr. Kutaragi hosted an event at a big electronics conference in Las Vegas to celebrate the U.S. launch of the PlayStation Portable handheld game machine -- one of the company's biggest products that year. He didn't invite executives from Sony's electronics division, which provided the parts
And it doesn't just stop with not getting invites for launches:
In developing the PlayStation 3 console, the device's latest iteration, Mr. Kutaragi went over budget on development costs without informing Mr. Stringer, according to a person familiar with the situation. When Mr. Stringer urged Mr. Kutaragi to have dinner with the heads of the electronics division, he did so just once a year, this person said.
Things get even better when Kutaragi blames the electronics division for lower shipping figures for the PS3:
In September, Mr. Kutaragi announced Sony was halving shipments of the new PlayStation to the U.S. and Japan and was pushing back its European launch. At a news conference, Mr. Kutaragi blamed Sony's electronics group for failing to produce enough of a critical component, exposing his tense relationship with the division.
Seeing that the electronics department are the guys actually making everything for Kutaragi, wouldn't it make some sense to make sure to have a good relationship with them? I would think so, but apparently "top manager" Kutaragi doesn't agree...

When I wrote that Sony will be filing disbading many of it's non-profitable departements I got flamed by SONY fanboyz here. Well this is how it starts. Next step is chagning the manegement and brininging in people that will cut of the money-sinking departements. Like whole PS3 branch. Mark my words, less then a year and you will be suprised by the magnitude of changes SONY will do.

Mark your words huh!
Say it like you know something the rest of the world doesnt wont you.
People on here all go on about how this company going to collapse and that company is screwed and that other company will win.
PS3 is not selling like it should be but it will do sell regardless of it being number 1 2 or 3 in the console wars, Blu-Ray is out selling HD-DVD 2 to 1 so im sure if that keeps up Sony will not have much to worry about in terms of cash flow.
I know people that think Resistance is just as good as GOW, there is no accounting for taste but if we all thought the same the world would be a boring place, the PS3 will sell well no doubt about that.
The Playstation brand name is the strongest in the console market and a few PS3's sat on shop shelves is not going to be enough to bring that brand name tumbling down.
The X360 will continue to do well and no doubt the PS3 will make up its lost ground over the next year or two and the Wii will continue to please those looking for an alternative gaming experience.
The only difference this time round is we got 2 power house machines about to go toe to toe in the guise of X360 and PS3, although X360 has the lead in terms of quantity and quality of games the PS3 will get its catalogue of worthwhile game purchases soon enough.
Both machine are capable of giving us stunning looking titles that will leave your jaw on the floor and will continue to do so for the next few years, its just a case of what stunning games in particular that you want which should sway your decision.
If anyone is dumb enough to think Sony are screwed and that soon you wont be able to buy a PS3 because they dont make them then you are a nob.
Before i get called a fanboy of either machine, i own BOTH thanks so dont even bother.

They had to steal every good idea (rumble anyone?) and now they pay fines for their lack of imagination.
Their gaming department sucks big time (SWG had potential greater then WOW and look at them now), in fact whatever they lay their hands on crumbles.
SONY will go down as a company, who said that only PS3 will cease to exist. Brand? Hey ENRON had a was a brand in their part of the industry and look at them now!
It's they way bussiness is done in today's world. You don't make a profit, you die.
