Far from Dead
Sony's PSP hasn't been the greatest handheld around but recently it's started to do better with sales in Japan even spiking. With E3 just around the corner, Sony is making Move one of their top priorities, but also the PSP is going to be getting a piece of the action to show the company isn't abandoning its handheld platform. They just need to reinvent it:
“To reinvent the whole PSP model wee need to look at handheld in a very different way, in the context in which consumers are now viewing it,” Howsen added. “We’re trying to reengage consumers with PSP, though that’s not just a challenge for us – it's a challenge for the whole handheld sector. We are at the point of a major shift in the way that consumers are engaging with the current players in that market.”
To reengage customers with the PSP, Sony Entertainment has recently announced that people registering a new PSP Go will be getting ten free games, downloadable through the PlaystationStore. The titles:
  • Assassins Creed: Bloodlines™
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
  • Gran Turismo™
  • James Cameron’s AVATAR™: The Game
  • LittleBigPlanet™
  • MotorStorm® Arctic Edge
  • NEED FOR SPEED SHIFT
  • Pursuit Force™: Extreme Justice
  • 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™
  • WipEout® Pure
