Sony Entertainment isn't planning to surrender and give hackers control over their Playstation3. The recent breakthrough by hackers will be taken on with a number of network updates, according to the manufacturer.

Earlier the "untouchable" PS3 was taken down by hackers who managed to upload their own firmware on the console, no matter which update the PS3 was and will be running on.
We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details.
One of the programmers who took part in the hacking of the console explained to the BBC that it's already too late. The console and its security has been hacked so that hackers can do as much with the device as Sony themselves
The complete console is compromised - there is no recovery from this. The only way to fix this is to issue new hardware. Sony will have to accept this.
If you want to delve deep into the technical explanation, we suggest you check out the interesting article over at DigitalFoundry.
