WoW Movie back on track thanks to Spidey getting canned?

Spider-Man 4 has been getting delay after delay and lately it started to interfere with the production schedule for the upcoming World of Warcraft movie but that is all gone now.

Sony Pictures has decided to pull the plug on the entire project and instead go for a complete reboot of the franchise

According to a press release from the company, the new film will be based on a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and will be set during Peter Parker's high school days. It will not star Tobey Maguire, who has played Parker in the last three Spider-Man films

As a result, Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is now free to continue his work on the World of Warcraft movie.

Activision (who have made games alongside every big Spider-Man movie release - something they were planning to do now as well) nor Blizzard Entertainment have yet commented on the matter.
