Spore-dev: "Wii is a piece of shit!"
Posted on Thursday, 8 March 2007 by Ryuken, source: Gamesindustry.biz
It's rare to see people in this biz who are dead honest about their own opinions. Chris Hecker definitely seems like on of them after his words on GDC about the Wii console. Hecker is a developer on the supposedly "next big thing" Spore (made by Maxis and published by EA).
He literally calls Nintendo's console a "piece of shit" or "two Gamecubes connected with duct tape". He dislikes the assumption that Nintendo only sees games as fun and not as art.
In a more valid way of seeing things he pointed out that the hardware limitations of the Wii not only hamper the graphical possibilities but also things like advanced AI. To end his rant, he had this to say to Nintendo:
"Number one: recognise and push games as a serious art form. Number two: make a console that doesn't suck ass."
Guess what console EA will be supporting a lot in the near future? Yep, that's right, the Wii. Ironically, a Spore port doesn't even seem unlikely in that regard.

EA need Wii as much as Nintendo need EA, both companies feed off each other (in terms of, EA needs a console to get cash, and nintendo need a company to get them games).
I bet Hecker is a Playstation fanboy :P

Also i own a stand alone HD-DVD player and i use my PS3 for Blu-Ray so am i a fanboy of both or neither.
If you drive a Ford does that make you a FordFanboy or if you prefer chinese food over a curry does that make you a chinesefoodfanboy, i like both chinese and curry so i guess im sitting on the fence.
This whole branding people as FANBOYs is just bollocks so guess that would make a fanboy of fanboy haters or something.
The one and only definition of a Fanboy is someone who owns consoles from ONE company and ONE company only and dismisses everything else without even knowing anything about it.
