Spore goes Hollywood
Posted on Friday, 2 October 2009 by Zembla, source: Hollywood reporter
It seems also Spore will be receiving the game-to-movie treatment. On the "Heat Vision blog" of The Hollywood Reporter you can read the movie will be directed by Chris Wedge. Thanks Bluesnews.
The money for the project comes out of the pockets of 20th Century Fox, the studio for whom Wedge already made the movies Ice Age and Robots. The scenario will be by the hands of Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. By now you're probably assuming it will be a CGI flick, a correct assumption indeed.
What we're mainly wondering is how the movie will handle the game's one celled starting phase. An ambitious project, but it remains to be seen wether or not Wedge will even the success of Ice Age. It so happens to be that the list of failed game-to-movie adaptations is long and distinguished.
