Square-Enix: Best results since Suare and Enix merger

Posted on Tuesday, 18 May 2010 by Speed, source: MCVUK
MCV managed to check out the latest financial results from Square-Enix and apparently they were the best the company has had since the merger between Square and Enix in 2003.

Last fiscal the company managed to increase operating income with 130% while net income went up with 50.1%. In real numbers that means Square-Enix net income was 9,5 million Yen.

Best-selling titles were Final Fantasy XIII, Dragon Quest IX and Dragon Quest VI, each selling over 3 million copies. Also Batman: Arkham Asylum and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days did well with over 1 million sales.

In Europe the company saw its net sales rise 320.1 % to 28,229 million Yen, but that did come with an overall operating loss of 1,369 million.

In the US things were also good with a 17.9% increase of net income to 3,216 million Yen.
“We are pleased to achieve the highest net sales, operating income and recurring income since the merger in April 2003,” Square Enix president Yoichi Wada stated.

“During the year we also successfully acquired and integrated UK based Eidos with a goal of expanding our own powerful IP line-up and strengthening our business platform in North America and Europe. Furthermore, we were able to raise our ability to meet the rapidly changing operating environment by our streamlining of the Group's headcount and asset levels.”
