Square-Enix' new business strategy: sequels!

Those that thought that Square-Enix, mostly known from the Final Fantasy series, didn't have enough sequels, spin-offs and remakes yet, think again.

In Japan, the company announced that it will change its strategy and focus even more on remaking existing titles as well as sequels of known (old) games.

Late Wednesday night, on their Japanese web site, Square Enix announced that it will be working under a new business model, focused more on re-releasing existing titles and creating sequels to older games.

After the big success of the old FF titles for the GBA and DS, the company must have thought it's best to switch entirely to this model. Whether that's a good thing for gamers is a totally different story of course.

Sounds like an attempt to reduce development costs. I can understand it in today's world but am very sad to hear it. All the FF games have similar general plots, but they are each really awsome in their own ways.
