Square working on FFXI successor?

1Up noticed that Nikkei Net (Japanese) is reporting that a sequel to Final Fantasy XI is in the works at Square-Enix for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Even without an official announcement, the information makes sense. Square Enix has maintained a dedicated, hardcore following with Final Fantasy XI, and their other endeavors, such as Front Mission Online, haven't exactly set the MMO space on fire. Another Final Fantasy-themed MMO would be an easy move for the company.

Guess there would indeed be a lot of people looking forward to a follow-up
