StarCraft 2 beta patch will bring custom maps and mac support
No week goes by without another big StarCraft II patch and after the latest one, patch 8, addressed some balance issues, the next update will also bring extra features.
Shacknews got word from lead producer Chris Sigaty that we will be seeing a map editor allowing for custom creations to be played. This Galaxy map editor will enable users to make complete scenarios and mods (Tower Defense anyone?) and is a highly anticipated feature of the game.
For the moment it will not be possible to publish your creations yet but this will become possible at retail with Battle.net 2.0 cloud. With that service Blizzard hopes to bring commerce to the platform a year after the launch when selling of custom made content on Battle.net Marketplace will become an option.
Next to the Galaxy hotness a Mac beta was also announced in the days following the release of the patch.
The last bit of info is a small buff for the Marauders who got over-nerfed in patch 8. Odds are good that they will do this by dropping the cost and research time of the concussive shells upgrade which was made an upgrade instead of a starting ability in the previous patch.
I'm off to play another game... Die you filthy Zerg, die die die!!!
